Propel is a small device patients use at home for just five minutes at a time. Wilckodontics, also known as Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO) or Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Therapy (SFOT), is a more advanced option for patients who need significant tooth movement or who have insufficient bone to support conventional treatment safely.
The procedure combines a minor surgical intervention with orthodontic treatment to accelerate movement and strengthen the bone at the same time and involves a small incision in the gum tissue, selective scaling of the outer bone layer, and a fast-healing bone graft. The result is a biological environment in which teeth move up to four times faster than with conventional orthodontics, and finish treatment in stronger, more mineralized bone than they started with.
